On a whim one day, Writing Your Life class member Diane Gosheff wrote a story and submitted it to a contest sponsored by Guideposts magazine. Her story centered on the amazing and unlikely story of finding her birth father through a library employee who ended up being her cousin. She thought no more of the contest and went on with her life.
Then one day about a year ago, Diane received a call from a Guideposts editor saying she had not won the contest, but they would like to use her story in their Mysterious Ways magazine. Of course, she agreed, was paid a small royalty, and began working with an editor to condense the story to the magazine’s requirements.
Now, Diane’s story has been anthologized in Guideposts’ most recent volume Mysterious Ways: More Than Coincidence, a collection of the magazine’s best one hundred stories, which promise to “fill you with awe and reassure you that miracles do happen.”
Congratulations, Diane! We are so proud of you for your determination in finding your birth parents, your courage in writing and submitting this story, and your success in being recognized as the great writer you are.
