Earlier this month, we shared an article about a man who waited more than twenty years to read a letter his grandmother wrote to him during the last solar eclipse. We invited you to take advantage of the upcoming total solar eclipse and write a letter to your own loved ones.
The eclipse is finally upon us. Monday, August 21, 2017, for approximately two and a half to three minutes, parts of the United States will go completely dark during daylight hours. The last time this particular event took place was 1918, so this is a once in a lifetime experience for most of us.
Have you written your letter? How was the experience? What did you learn about yourself and your writing through this prompt? We would love to hear from those who participated in this exercise. Please share your experiences in the comments below or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with a few sentences about writing your letter to a loved one.
I can’t wait to read your thoughts about this writing experience. Letters are a wonderful way to frame a story. Who knows? Maybe you just started writing yours.
