Our time is neatly divided into minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, seasons, years, and so forth. I’ve been thinking about the last quarter of 2015 and how I intend to spend that time, where I intend to focus my energy and effort. Intention is a powerful tool, one I’m learning more about every day.
For the last three months of 2015, my primary intention is to focus on editing for my wonderful clients who are in various phases of writing their life stories. Lucille and I are finishing the memoir her 104-year-old husband Floyd began before his death a few years ago. My second intention is to set up times and places to speak with organizations about the importance and process of preserving the past. I received three invitations to speak the week after I began focusing on that intention. That’s how it works.
So what about you? What do you want to accomplish in the remainder of 2015? It can be anything, big or small. It might be to finish a particular piece you’ve been working on. Maybe it’s to get some training that will help you be a better writer.
I encourage you to set a writing intention for the next three months. Put it in writing. Then place it in a location where you can read it every day. Tell someone about your intention and then take baby steps each day toward its accomplishment. You will be amazed to see how the universe begins to help you make your intention reality.
