Learn to Sing: Style, Grammar, Punctuation

I heard it said that film directors often compare style, grammar, and punctuation to cameras and microphones. Directors use various camera angles and sounds to communicate what they want their audience to focus on.

Style, grammar, and punctuation morph us into directors on the page, guiding the reader to essential elements of our stories. One of the main functions of grammar and punctuation is for emphasis, and a properly placed comma can be the difference between your reader hearing your dialogue or nails on a chalkboard. Errors scream while clean text sing smooth melodies.

Your stories are important and deserve to be clear and grammatically correct. They deserve to sing. Don’t let your grammar and punctuation fears slow you down or stop you from sharing your wonderful stories. In other words, don’t let these challenges kill your vision. Let your story live.

In Style, Grammar, Punctuation, and More, watch your writing transform as you learn to properly punctuate, understand sentence structure, and come to know a writer’s best friend—verbs. Your writing gains strength as you master verb tenses, capitalization, and parts of speech, and figure out where to put that always pesky comma.

The Style, Punctuation, Grammar, and More program begins June 29, 2017. This is a four-week program designed to help you develop the confidence to effectively write your story the way you always hoped. The course concludes the week of July 17th. To register, click here.
