Today’s editing tip comes by way of Teresa Bruce, one of my go-to editors here at Writing Your Life.
She says, “The number one tip I give writers is to place their manuscripts in a different font than the one they are currently using to write it. Also, be sure to read the manuscript aloud or have someone read it to them before they submit it.”
What a terrific tip. When you change the way your manuscript looks, you are able to see it with new eyes. Hearing your work read aloud is a sure-fire way to uncover errors and reveal problematic pacing or phrasing.
Give it a try, and let us know if this tip was helpful for you.
