Thank you to the women who made the sold-out Spiritual Memoir workshop last Saturday, July 15th great. We examined various meanings of the word spiritual, looked at what constitutes memoir, and learned about the type of writing we create when we combine the two.
The stories shared included loving tributes to parents and the privilege of taking care of them, special moments of self-awareness, the feeling of belonging to something larger than ourselves, and moments of peace during a time of trial and tribulation. We laughed. We cried. We wrote.

Here’s what a few class members had to say about what they gained from the Spiritual Memoir workshop:
I so enjoyed the Spiritual Memoir workshop with you last Saturday. I’m feeling the urge to write and with a vision—all of which does not overwhelm and paralyze me. You helped give me that gift. Thank you.
Patricia’s Spiritual Memoir Workshop exceeded my expectations. I always look forward to actually writing in her classes, and we were given one prompt that stimulated interesting stories. The shared serendipitous, read-aloud responses volunteered by participants exemplified how versatile the writers in attendance and the effectiveness of the prompt.
Patricia proceeded to provide informative and descriptive examples of spiritual writing that generated discussion and through the varied sampling of writings by published authors she demonstrated the techniques. I learned, laughed and took away a wealth of triggered story prompts for future writing. Cheryl Floyd
I loved the spirit of the class. It was warm and welcoming and a safe place for aspiring writers like me in the presence of so many accomplished folks. I was encouraged by all you taught and loved the scope you presented. It helped me to think finishing my book is actually doable, that my pauses will not be fatal.
I really appreciate the helpful tips Patricia shared with us regarding various types of spiritual memoirs and how to use these examples as a possible framework for one’s own work. I’ve been wanting to write down my experiences for a long time. These tips gave me a sense of direction on how to get started. I left the workshop feeling like I could do more than just write; I could actually finish a project I’ve dreamed about for a long time. Thank you, Patricia.
