I like birds. I don’t consider myself a birder, but I do enjoy watching our feathered friends—those that used to hang around the feeder at my old house and the ones that come to visit the lake where I live now. I often observe unusual bird situations like a couple of weeks ago when thirty buzzards spent the afternoon on the little beach at our condo complex; I wondered if someone had buried a body in the sand. I saw bald eagles mating atop a tall cypress tree earlier in the year, and this weekend in Sarasota, I watched a greedy seagull sit on the back of a pelican and try to steal his hard-earned catch. Birds are interesting.
So what about you? Do you like birds? Do you have any good bird stories? For this week, write about an interesting bird encounter. Set the timer for ten minutes. Go.
