All the little voices that keep us up at night never have anything nice to say. They’re always going on about how we could have done something differently, how (with 20-20 hindsight) we ought to have behaved better, how our little unkindnesses and mistakes will manifest trouble for us in the future. It’s monotonous and exhausting.
So for a refreshing change, today’s writing exercise is about pride. Think back through all of the big successes in your life and how amazing they made you feel. Make a short list of the big ones. Then, pick one and really write through everything that led up to it, all of the things you did right to make it happen, and how enormous that pride felt when you reached your goal.
Set the timer for 8 minutes, and dig deep into what you are most proud of in your life. Go!
